Supreme Court Upholds 1st Amendment Rights of Anti-Gay Protester

Last April we added a blog on this site regarding the (then)upcoming Supreme Court review of the case of one Albert Snyder versus Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, Kansas. The case had to do with a legally permitted protest at the funeral of Snyder’s  son – ostensibly to point out that due to the growing pro-homosexual agenda of  the US government and its secular citizens, that God has allowed soldiers to be placed in harms way and in some cases being killed in action.

Today, the Court has sided with 1st Amendment rights of free speech – supported interestingly enough by the media which would have taken a serious body blow if the decision had gone the other way.

While this court decision is obviously a victory for Westboro and others who may protest in a similar manner, it does not in any way detour the efforts by the ACLU, the liberal press and segments of the government itself to  silence the pulpit where biblical references are made to homosexuality or other sins…

The Court’s decision was clearly made to ensure freedom of speech through the press – and while Westboro was and is not considered a part of the national “press” or “media”, it clearly benefitted from the decision.  Not all legal decisions which involve Christian values or scriptural positions are so fortunate.
