Catholic celibacy – different from chastity – and compared to Bible Instructions.

The continuing and downward spiriling moral degradation that has enveloped the Catholic church represents one of the most egregious acts against nature that one can imagine.  Molestation and sexual assault on pre-adolescent teenagers ranks with the Inquisition in its depth of depravity.

An argument is ongoing within the hierarchy of Catholic Church as to whether the root cause of these immoral acts is celibacy or the widespread infestation of homosexuality within the priesthood. Denial of either is akin to answering whether or not one has stopped beating their wife.

Had the instances of abuse been isolated to one or two locations and perhaps one or two priests, then the issue may have been quietly slipped under the rug(as it has been in the past) and not been on the tongue of virtually every catholic believer worldwide.  Such is clearly not the case with new revelations occurring on a worldwide basis – recently in Mexico, Central and S0uth America where hundreds if not thousand of new cases are being brought to light.

The Catholic church Magisterium(wherein all “truth” is separated and segregated based on Church doctrine), is at the center of this debate.

Celibacy is one of the three oaths that Catholic initiates take upon entering the priesthood.  Celibacy relates to marriage and has nothing to do with chastity – for example, refraining from sexual activity, including  pre-pubescent and adolescent boys.

“Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines o f devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.” 1 Timothy 4:1-3

Timothy writes that this business of celibacy of priests is a clear departure from the faith, specific instructions given by Christ for leaders of Christian congregations.
