Obama celebrates Roe v. Wade’s 41st anniversary: abortion allows women to ‘fulfill their dreams’

WASHINGTON, D.C., January 22, 2014 (LifeSiteNews.com) – President Obama reaffirmed his support for the “right to reproductive freedom” in a statement celebrating the 41st anniversary of Roe v. Wade, a ruling which has paved the way for over 56 million abortions.

The president’s remarks come as hundreds of thousands of pro-life citizens begin to gather on the National Mall in preparation for the Washington March for Life.

“Today, as we reflect on the 41st anniversary of the Supreme Court decision in Roe v. Wade, we recommit ourselves to the decision’s guiding principle: that every woman should be able to make her own choices about her body and her health,” the president said.

“We reaffirm our steadfast commitment to protecting a woman’s access to safe, affordable health care and her constitutional right to privacy, including the right to reproductive freedom,” he continued. “And we resolve to reduce the number of unintended pregnancies, support maternal and child health, and continue to build safe and healthy communities for all our children.  Because this is a country where everyone deserves the same freedom and opportunities to fulfill their dreams.”

Obama has been dubbed the “abortion president” by pro-life leaders for his open and vigorous support for the deadly practice up to the moment of birth. In his time as state senator in Illinois he even voted against the Born Alive Infant Protection Act, leading to charges that he also supports infanticide.

Since taking office, the president has made it a practice of issuing letters lauding Roe v. Wade on the January 22nd anniversary.
